The Rancho Folclórico do Cartaxo, defending the cultural and etnografic aspects that represents (Bairro and Leziria) in the province of Ribatejo, represents some of the clothes used on the first decades of XXth century, in particular rural and in some cases to farmers clothing also.

Its first apearence was on 1947, 15th of November, with the name of Rancho Folclórico da Casa do Povo do Cartaxo, for belonging to that public institution. This first appearence, that marked the beggining of the group, was made during  a Gift Parade that was held every year in Cartaxo.

In 13/05/56, with the name of Rancho Folclórico do Cartaxo, it came back to activity leaving a good name in Portugal—North and South of the continent in International, National e Regional Festivals and also in Madeira and Açores. Internationaly it participated in festivals in Spain, Morroco, Czechoslovakia, Japan, Austria, United States of America and Poland.
